Bryan vs. TCC
Final score: Bryan 2-3 TCC
Today was a tale of two halves. The girls started strong, dominated possession and controlled the game for the first 40 minutes of play. They continued to apply pressure and push forward creating multiple opportunities. #6 Delilah Taylor put us in the lead after beating a few defenders outside the box and finding the far corner. A few minutes later, #19 Ella Voigt fired a long ball into the box that #12 Allie Zimmerman chased down and poked past the keeper to make it 2-0 at halftime. Unfortunately, we let off the gas at the start of the second half and when they scored their first from a free kick 30 yards out, our heads sank, and we couldn’t recover. A couple defensive mistakes allowed their second goal to be scored off another free kick that ended with a loose ball in the box that TCC cleaned up with a goal. And their 3rd goal was a shot outside the box.
Tough game where we played well in the first half but couldn’t stay consistent through the second.
Final score: Bryan 5-2 Delta
A solid performance from the girls tonight and a much needed win to boost our confidence for the remainder of the season. We controlled possession throughout the game and were able to create numerous chances on the attack. The deadlock was broken by #6 Delilah Taylor in the 25th minute. Shortly thereafter she found the net again to make it 2-0 going into half. #0 Bre Long had one save in the first half and recorded her first clean sheet of the season. The girls continued to apply pressure and control the game during the second half and made it 3-0 after #2 Ella Miller dropped it back to #20 Kailee Thiel who chipped it over the keeper’s head. #2 Ella Miller found the net for herself soon after to put us up 4-0.
Delta was able to claw a couple goals back in the 60th and 64th minutes of the game making it 4-2. However, the game was put to bed when #12 Allie Zimmerman headed a loose ball home in the 73rd minute of play.
Overall great performance and a step in the direction for the girls.
Final score: Archbold 4-0 Bryan
Another tough night for the girls. Despite our best efforts, we could not find our offense tonight. Our touches and our passing really hurt us in a game that could’ve gone very differently. The girls fought hard throughout the game but couldn’t find a way to claw back from behind 2-0 at halftime. Despite the goals we allowed, #0 Bre Long had 12 saves and #1 Calysta Wasson had two.
Final score: Shawnee 5-0 Bryan
Tonight’s game was certainly one to learn from. The girls started slow and were not able to recover. Shawnee played a good game and outworked us to the ball all around the field. The girls continued to fight through the end of the game but we couldn’t quite find the extra gear we needed to maintain possession and move the ball up the field. Although the scoreline may not reflect well on the team, the game provided us with area’s to improve upon moving forward. I am confident we can bounce back from our first loss of the season. Despite our struggles tonight, #0 Bre Long recorded four saves and #1 Calysta Wasson had one.
Bryan 3-2 Celina
A great start to our season with a well-deserved comeback win. Celina was a tough test for the girls but they showed resilience and fought to the last minute. The game started slow for us after giving up two goals in the first three minutes of the game. However, those goals seemed to wake the girls up and they were able to find their confidence and rhythm for the rest of the game. The girls bounced back when #20 Kailee Thiel went on a solo run from 50 yards out, beating a few defenders, and finding the back of the net to put us at 2-1. The girls continued to push for the remainder of the half and another goal came from #12 Allie Zimmerman. Her free kick from 40 yards found the opposite corner just over the keepers head tying the game at 2-2 before halftime. The second half brought more of the same. The girls kept pushing and it paid off after #2 Ella Miller found herself in space on the left side of the field, looked up, and played a great cross into the feet of #5 Marah Smith who tucked it away to give us the lead, 3-2. The girls continued to create chances for the remainder of the game but were unable to convert. A two goal cushion would’ve helped but #0 Bre Long made sure we didn’t need it, she came up with 13 saves to maintain our lead.
Great first win of the season and the girls battled hard to the end. They earned every goal and every bit of this win and we look to carry it into our games next week!
